See you Saturday morning!

Just a quick note that we plan to open at 11 Saturday morning until 4PM and 10:30-4 for the rest of the March break!

Spring may only be hinting her arrival, but hinting during March Break is enough to get us moving and get our gates open so the kids have place to visit!

This winter seemed to go on for ever and the thought of being outside, not freezing, and enjoying some sunshine, is a appealing to the animals as it seems to we winter weary humans!

This last week we have watched animals young and old frolicking like newborns around their enclosures!

Obviously the tropical animals will not be on display until it is warmer, but we will have Mr. Snuffles and a few of the easier to move animals out to enjoy the sunshine.

After that we will open nice weekends until the first week of May when we will open daily until Thanksgiving!

This would be a great opportunity to get out and buy your 2009 seasonal pass. We have never been opened this early before, so the opportunity to have a long season of outdoor activity is yours.... at last years prices too!

The park is still a bit muddy and the air cool , so dress for it..... rubber boots....not sandals yet!

What's been happening so far this spring ? well....

The zoo is hopping with little lambs!
The fairly mild winter was easy on them and only 2 of the whole bunch yet born needed to be bottle raised.
So Alice and Boog will be there to greet you children for bottle feedings at 11 and 3!

(Boog did not get his name from a nostril item, it is short for Boogy Woogie!)

When he was revived from nearly gone, he danced around the house in what seemed time to the Great big Sea playing on the stereo. (More rhythm than me.)

The other animals seem to have held back waiting for the warmer weather, so you can expect a population explosion over the next few months.

This year, like last, we plan to focus our work on making the zoo a much better display.

New and better enclosure and shelters, a big display of parrots and macaws. Lots of colour to brighten the place up.
Last Autumn, we had a group from Kingsway College volunteer a day...WOW... did those young men and ladies get some work done! They have asked to do it again this spring.

It humbles us when the community reaches out to give us a hand like this.
Thank you Kingsway!

So as we start our 17th season, we look forward to seeing you all again.
The price of admission has remained the same for the third year ,keeping prices very affordable for healthy outdoor activities.

As events unfold, I'll be keeping you posted......but for now....C'mon Spring!
Alan
